Welcome. I’m Pinkyhoot, a Chinese American visual artist in Utah specializing in surreal figurative floral art with watercolor and gouache paint. My work turns the inner landscape of thoughts and emotions into tangible visual experiences, inviting viewers to explore their own inner worlds with curiosity and care. Although I studied Art in college, family expectations led me into a decade-long career as a shoe designer. It wasn’t until COVID that the unfulfilled artist in me began tugging louder than ever, pushing me to finally return to the path I had once abandoned. As I sketched again, my fashion-inspired figures naturally evolved into the ethereal, introspective scenes I’m known for today. This journey also gave rise to my signature Orbettes—small, eye-shaped beings that personify our thoughts—adding psychological depth and emotional storytelling to my contemporary work. My feminine surrealism art is driven by a very personal quest to keep my own mindset in check. Starting out, the uncertainty and loneliness of the artist's path hit me hard, showing me how deeply those inner struggles affect everything—my well-being, my relationships, even my attitude as a mom. I now create art to share this discovery: I contemplate and transform complicated internal concepts into something tangible and beautiful, inviting viewers to pause and objectively assess their own minds. My ultimate goal is for my collectors to feel inspired toward a more joyful, intentional, and fulfilling life. As an Asian female artist, my surreal art has been widely recognized: it has been exhibited internationally, featured digitally on platforms like Open Call For Artists, Loupe, and HUG.
