🐉 The Dragon is the most magnificent sign in the Chinese zodiac, and the only mythical one, a creature of power, good fortune, and noble heart, the bringer of luck and blessing. I painted this one a little younger and kinder, all that legendary strength turned toward a rescue. If you were born in 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024, or 2036, this is your year. The lotus is the dragon's flower, and few pairings run deeper. The lotus rises clean and radiant straight out of the muddy water, the oldest symbol of purity, resilience, and rising above hard things. Together they hold a small, warm truth, that true strength bends down to lift others up, and even the deepest water can't keep you under when someone kind is coming.
🖼️ This is another painting in my Chinese Zodiac series, twelve animals, each given its own little world. It's an original watercolor and gouache painting, made by hand and finished with my red seal.
