🐭 The Rat is the clever, quick-witted spark of the Chinese zodiac, resourceful and charming and always three steps ahead, the one who turns even a squabble into a bit of fun. If you were born in 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020, or 2032, this is your year. The lily is the rat's flower, and the pairing is a happy one. In Chinese, its name carries the wish for a hundred years of harmony, for lasting friendship and togetherness through everything. Together they hold a small, warm truth, that the people we chase and squabble and tumble with are usually the ones we love the most.
🖼️ This is another painting in my Chinese Zodiac series, twelve animals, each given its own little world. It's an original watercolor and gouache painting, made by hand and finished with my red seal, meant to live on a wall as a piece of rat art you can actually sit with. It's the kind of whimsical, surreal little world I love building at Pinkyhoot, playful and dreamlike at once.
